The Croydon Floor Sanding Experts!
Miles Malleson trained as an actor and wrote several successful plays, including ever-popular adaptations of Moliere classics.
Yet it is for his appearances in numerous British movies of the 40s and 50s that he is best remembered.
A small man with a pointed nose, fussy pedantic manner and no chin, he can be seen as Canon Chasuble in ‘The Importance of Being Earnest’; and as the ‘room for one more inside’ bus conductor in the chiller ‘Dead of Night’.
Perhaps best of all is his philosophical hangman who is denied despatching Dennis Price in ‘Kind Hearts and Coronets’.
Nevertheless, given the ending, he may have a second chance to get his man!
